Harvey Glatman: The Glamour Girl Slayer

Harvey Murray Glatman (December 10, 1910 – September 18, 1959), also known as the "Glamour Girl Slayer" and "Lonely Hearts Killer", was an American serial killer.

  • Modus Operandi: Glatman lured his victims, typically young women aspiring to be models, through posing as a photographer or modeling scout. He would then tie them up, torture them, photograph them, and ultimately murder them. He often engaged in bondage and sadistic acts before strangling or shooting them. His use of photography was a key element in his crimes, both for his own twisted gratification and as a means of control.

  • Victims: He confessed to killing three women in Los Angeles, California, between 1957 and 1958. They were:

    • Ruth Reese He may have committed other murders, but these were the only ones he admitted to.
  • Capture and Trial: Glatman was apprehended in 1958 after attempting to kidnap and assault a woman in Arizona. This victim managed to escape and report him to the police. Evidence found in his car connected him to the Los Angeles murders. He confessed to the murders and was subsequently convicted.

  • Execution: Glatman was sentenced to death and executed in the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison on September 18, 1959.
